Merri Francis, LCSW
I just completed my 20th brain training session with NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback Systems and I am extremely pleased with the results. I have experienced a significant increase in my ability to stay focused and concentrate when I write summaries and progress notes related to my work. Even more significant is an increased ability to maintain perspective in the challenges I experience in personal relationships. In other words, I am less reactive to emotionally charged situations I face on a daily basis; I love this because brain training with NeurOptimal® requires minimal effort with great results!
Before brain training with NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback Systems, I struggled with anxiety and OCD which prevented me from attending high school. Without it, I probably would not have graduated. Now, I am attending Folsom Lake College and I am very successful. I owe it all to NeurOptimal®.
Marissa initially received 20 training sessions with NeurOptimal® and then requested to do an additional 10 sessions to help her with anxiety related to the graduation ceremony. She is now regularly training as a way to help her better succeed in college.
Tami Paul - D's Story
I would like to tell you my son’s story. D came to me in 2005 at 5 years old and was a challenge from day one. He had experienced unspeakable trauma in his home before us and was in dire need of help. He had severe ADD, off the charts OCD and absolutely no impulse control. The word the social worker used to describe him before she dropped him off was “ferrel”. D was so multi-faceted in his needs that figuring out where to begin was challenging to say the least.
In the next 10 years we scrambled daily for answers, prioritizing his needs mostly based on how to keep him safe. First we worked with pediatricians trying many ADD medications. Frequent therapy was a must, we rarely missed a session. Next we started working with a psychiatrist because the medication needs were getting too complicated for just our pediatrician. This lead to more therapy, wrap services, and trying many anxiety and mood stabilizing drugs. D was only 8 years old when this all was happening to him.
Whenever D felt anxiety he would have a fight or flight response. This would cause him to seek out some form of transportation to get away. If he could not get away he often would threaten harm to himself. All of this lead to two visits to the psychiatric ward and eventually fleeing home led to the law getting involved. He was put on probation at only 9 years old. My son was not a criminal. Next he fled school and got into an altercation as the school principal was trying to save him from himself. He was then arrested at school. He was only in 3rd grade. Just days before Christmas he was in Juvenile Hall. Everyone, even the jail personnel knew this was not where D should be.
Two months later he was released by court order into a level 14 group home for his safety and the safety of others. The need to flee led him to seek out golf carts or cars to transport him elsewhere. It didn’t matter where, just away! The reality was, we could not keep him safe at home!
D’s level of anxiety had reached a level so high that the sweet, caring, nurturing little boy that we knew was inside was almost never seen anymore. Our whole family lived in constant fear of what D might try next. The next 6.5 years were spent desperately trying to stay a family, by attending regular weekly treatments with him 1.5 hours drive from our home. After 4 years of this he was moved to another state, once again because of safety issues (escaping). For 4 years we had been visiting D one to two times per week. Now we could only see him once every two to three months.
In February 2016, D was able to come home. Still anxiety was high, but we were going to attempt again to be together. Counseling services and Psychiatry helped with the transition. During my constant research I was told about Neurofeedback. - Specifically, NeurOptimal®. I was told that this brain training was safe and had helped others. I also was informed that this brain training could help with sleep and calm anxiety for some. These were two big areas D really needed relief in and medicine was not doing enough. It couldn’t hurt to give it a try. Paralyzing OCD and anxiety had been keeping D from sleep and thwarting the benefits of schooling and therapy.
After approximately 5 sessions D asked me if he could take a nap. He has never been able to sleep well, let alone sleep in the daytime. This being able to nap has continued to this day. His anxiety is today lower than I have ever seen it in 11 years. D is attending public school successfully for the first time in 6.5 years. Our family is going places together frequently, which is something we could not do before now. D has goals, hopes and dreams for his future that I firmly believe would not have been possible without NeurOptimal®.

I have been training regularly with NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback Systems since February, 2016 and I love it! I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in August, 2015. Prior to brain training, I was confused, isolated, needy, very scared and unsure of myself. Today, I am excited to report that I am very happy, confidant, engaged and participating in every activity offered at my facility. People notice how well I am doing and let me know on a daily basis. Staff at my facility let me know that I am a pleasure to work with. My memory is better and I stopped a life-long nail-biting habit after 6 sessions. I’m even walking better than I was prior to training. I highly recommend brain training with NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback Systems. I know this isn’t a cure for Alzheimer’s but my quality of life is now amazing and I’m very grateful. If it can do this for me, what can it do for you?
Kory Robinson - Comment after 1st session
I was skeptical at first but after my first session I definitely felt more relaxed and focused!
